Microsoft has updated Skype for Windows 8 to add HD video support in selected scenarios. If there is enough bandwidth, the sender’s camera supports it and the receiver’s device supports it, the callers can send 720p video and receive 1080p video.
The update also improves video messaging notifications and stability and fixes a few bugs that caused Skype to crash. See the Skype blog post here for more details on the update.
