Pebble has released an update to the fix the issue that caused some of its smartwatches to be unable to turn back on after being shut down. The problem was caused by a bug in the microcontroller that occasionally prevented it from reconfiguring itself before the watch shut down.
This caused the buttons to become unresponsive, so the watch could not be turned back on. Unfortunately, this update will not fix smartwatches that have already experienced this bug, so they will need to be returned and replaced.

Pebble has updated the firmware on their smartwatch. It improves the menu structure by grouping all watchfaces together and makes it possible to cycle through watchfaces using the up and down buttons instead of using the menu. There is also a new Snake game.
The Pebble smartwatch has a 144 x 168 pixel e-paper display and with a standard 22mm band. The watch has been tested as waterproof up to 50 metres (165 feet) in both fresh and salt water. It has a battery life of about a week and comes with a charger that magnetically connects to the left side of the watch.
Also on the left side of the watch is a button that displays the menu. There are three buttons on the right side of the watch to navigate up and down and select a menu item. The watch comes with several watchfaces in different styles.
The primary purpose of the Pebble smartwatch is to display notifications from iOS and Android devices. There are Pebble smartphone apps available for both iOS and Android and a Pebble SDK will be released next month that will allow developers to create apps for the smartwatch.
